India Boosts Defence Tech: GE to Supply Engines for Tejas Fighter Jets
India’s indigenous fighter jet program is set to get a major boost as General Electric (GE) will now supply two F404-IN20 jet engines every month for the Tejas Mk1A fighter jets. This move will significantly speed up the production and induction of the advanced jets into the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Faster Delivery Plan

The deliveries will continue at this rate until March 2026.
-
This fast-track supply plan is part of India’s effort to strengthen its air defence capabilities amid growing regional security challenges.
Other Defence Deals in Progress
According to Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh:
-
India is also in talks to purchase Javelin anti-tank guided missiles.
-
Plans are being discussed to procure Stryker armored combat vehicles from the United States.
These deals highlight India’s push to modernize its defence technology and reduce dependence on older equipment.
About the Tejas Mk1A Fighter Jet

The Tejas is a lightweight, single-engine, multirole fighter aircraft designed by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited).
-
The new Mk1A variant features better radar systems, improved avionics, and modern weapons capability.
