Last year, the situation was extremely critical:

  • 266 villages in Kalaburagi ran out of drinking water
  • 201 villages in Bidar faced complete water shortage

Families struggled daily for basic needs, relying on tankers and distant water sources.

To avoid a repeat in 2026, the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board has taken major steps:

  • ₹4,059 crore allocated (record spending)
  • Leasing private borewells
